IDentiFake Power Issues Troubleshooting
The first thing to check is the external AC power supply. It must be the one that came with the
IDentiFake. If the power supply is not working or securely plugged into the device, no components of the IDentiFake will receive any power.
Do NOT substitute this power supply as using the wrong power supply could
damage the IDentiFake electronics.
If the scanner(s) of your IDentiFake are not powering on but the Surface is receiving power, there are 3 connections to check.
Be sure to revisit the “Check the Power Supply” section to ensure the power supply is working correctly. The connection into the power jack of the IDentiFake should be fully secured and snug. It should not feel loose or falling out easily.
Ensure the cable connections to the back of the scanner(s) are fully connected and secured.

Checking the internal wire harness connections
Pull out the drawers that the scanners are in.
Push and hold the left side tab upwards while pushing and holding the right side tab downwards.
While holding each tab in their respective direction, gently slide the drawer out until it is fully removed.
Once the drawer is removed you will be able to access the wire harness.

Also to check for any frays or nicks in the cables as they may also present issues of the scanners getting enough power.
When the Surface is receiving power there should a white led illuminating from the hole circled in red. If this LED is not illuminated then the Surface is not receiving power.
NOTE: In rare cases the LED may be illuminating but the Surface still will not power on. In this case please proceed with the steps below.
Checking the Surface charger cable located in the stand.
In the stand of the IDentiFake, there will be the Surface charger cable connection. Follow the instructions in the image below to access the cable.
Disconnect and reconnect the barrel jack connectors shown in the 4th image to ensure they are fully and securely connected.
If the solution above did not resolve the issue, next we will check the connection of the Surface charger connection to the Surface tablet itself
Follow the directions in the image below to remove the cover over the Surface tablet.
Once removed, unplug and re-insert the charger cable into the Surface. The LED should illuminate with a white LED indicating the Surface is receiving a charge.
Hold the power button down to power on the device.
If both the Surface and Scanner(s) are not receiving power the two main causes are a bad power supply or a blown fuse.
Revisit the first section of the article to double check the power supply for any issues. If the power supply is working the issue is more than likely caused by a blown fuse. Please open a support ticket for additional assistance if a blown fuse is the possible cause.
