Software Upgrades for the IDVisor Smart V2, Smart Plus, & S50

Software Upgrades for the IDVisor Smart V2, Smart Plus, & S50

There are 4 available software upgrades that greatly increase the functionality of the IDVisor Smart V2, Smart Plus, and S50 id scanners.

These upgrades include Photo CaptureVIP/Banned Tag ListsAnti-Passback Detection, and the ability to read Passports. Descriptions of each of these software enhancements can be found in subsequent sections of this document.

These upgrades can be purchased and installed when a scanner is initially purchased or at a later date directly on each scanner by going to IDVisor Scanner Home Page > Help > Purchase Upgrades

Photo Capture:

Once installed, when an ID is successfully scanned, you will now be able to optionally take a picture of the scanned ID.

The scanner software allows two pictures per ID scanned, which allows you to take a picture of the front and back of an ID. There are two camera icons on the ID Scanner form screen.

Tapping one of those camera icons will allow you to take a picture of one side of an ID.

Note: The camera icons are only available when an ID is SUCCESSFULLY scanned and are NOT the same as the Free Pic option.

The Free Pic option allows you to take a picture of an ID that you are NOT able to read due to the condition of the ID. Tap on the Free Pic button on the ID Scanner form screen, this will initiate the camera and allow you to take a picture.

VIP/Banned Tagging:

Tagging allows you to tag an ID at the time it is scanned. You can use the existing tag names provided on the scanner or create your own in the Tag List option under Setup.

Scan an ID then tap the Tag button. Select the Tag type from the pull-down menu. You may also enter an optional note and optional Tag expiration date. After tagging the ID press Save.

If a Tagged ID is presented at a future date, the ID Scanner will alert the scanner operator audibly and display an alert message with the Tag details.

Anti-Passback:

Once the Anti-Passback feature is installed and enabled (in Configuration), when an ID is scanned more than once during the configured time span, the scanner will make a different type of sound and a notification will appear on the screen showing how many times the ID has been re-scanned within the defined time span.

This feature helps ensure that the same ID is not being used for multiple people.

To disable this feature, go to Setup > Configuration > Anti Passback Enable: OFF.

Passports:

Once the Passport Reading upgrade is installed, your ID scanner will be able to read the Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) on passports, in addition to the standard driver’s license reading ability.

The MRZ is highlighted in red in the sample passport image below:
